- Description
- The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Spectranetics of Colorado Springs, CO for a CVX 300 Excimer Laser System and Spectranetics Laser Sheath (SLS). This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. These products are the only known FDA approved products for removing scar tissue holding problematic pacemaker and implantable Cardiac Defibrillator leads in place. The CVX 300 uses an ultraviolet wavelength of 308 nanometers and does not exceed 50 degrees Celsius at the ablation site. To the best of our knowledge, Spectranetics is the only responsible source capable of providing the equipment to satisfy the agency requirement. Spectranetics is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. This is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No telephone calls will be accepted. Any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer by email addressed to pamela.rayburg@med.va.gov or by fax at 412-365-5444. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no responses are received by September 21, 2005 at 9:00AM, the VAPHS will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Spectranetics.
