- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, MD intends to negotiate and award a time and materials delivery order for performance of engineering investigations on in-service failures of forward and aft transmissions, as well flight control components, for the CH-46E series helicopter. The proposed order will be awarded on a sole source basis to The Boeing Company, Boeing Helicopters, Ridley Park, PA. The authority permitting other than full and open competition is Title 10, U.S. Code, Section 2304(c) (1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Boeing will perform failure analysis of the components as well as complete a metallurgical evaluation to confirm compliance with applicable manufacturing specifications and tolerances. Each engineering evaluation will be documented with a full report detailing the metallurgical findings, stress analysis, and materials engineering departments. Work includes disassembly of exhibit and will be performed both and Ridley Park, Pa and in Cherry Point, NC. The Boeing Company is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the H-46 series helicopter and the only firm that possesses the knowledge, experience, technical expertise and technical data required to perform these efforts.
