Description

USDA-ARS, Parlier is looking to purhase a Critical Point dryer. This is a commercially available item. It is an instrument that is used to ready specimens for use in an Scanning Electron Microscope. We have a Hitachi S-3500N SEM. Requirments for the CDP are as follows. The system should be able to handle a single large sample (or a large number of small samples) at one time, with a maximum drying time of 3 hours. System should incorporate an insert that allows for the changing of the chamber to minimize chamber size and allow for fewer samples to be placed in the large chamber at any one time. Sample holders should be of varying size to allow for more or fewer samples to be processed, depending on the needs of the lab. The high volume will help to minimize the use of CO2. Minimun of 12 specimen holders with a max capacity of 144 per run. This will help to maximize throughput.
