Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities(FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line(NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the NSWC Division Crane. The Government requires engineering services to support the US Navy?s goal of converting submarine main storage batteries to commercial Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) technology. This procurement is for Phase VI of that process. It will consist of five tasks as follows: (1) VRLA Ship-alteration support; (2) Engineering support through all phases of manufacture of the first VRLA battery sets for each cell type; (3) Battery installation engineering support; (4) Monitoring of VRLA battery testing and prototype facility operation; and (5) Battery shock testing engineering support. The period of performance is estimated to be 12 months. This will be a firm-fixed price contract. The Navy intends to solicit and negotiate this contract on a sole-source basis with Exide Corporation, d/b/a GNB Industrial Power, a division of Exide Technologies, Aurora, IL based on FAR 6.302-1, only one source capable of meeting the Government?s requirements. This procurement will be processedin accordance with FAR Part 12 procedures, acquisition of commercial items. The applicable NAICS Classification is 541330 and the size standard is $20M.
