Description
This is a stewardship project with the intent to reduce excessive stocking, fuel loading and ladder fuels and raise the base height of tree crowns. All units contain aggregations which range from scattered overstory trees to open pole sized stands to thickets of smaller trees, and areas with scattered to heavy brush. Contractor is required to treat freshly cut conifer stumps (with Diameters 8 inches and up) within the campground (T-1) and the homesite (T-7) areas with a borax pesticide. A licensed pesticide applicator and reporting of pesticide use is required by state law. LOCATION: Township 18 North, Range 10 West, Sections 1, 12 & 13 M.D.B. & M. Latitude: 39d 26m North, Longitude: 122d 56m West. The treatment area is approximately 300 acres with 6 bid items with a combination of the following treatments: Mechanical Thinning (commercial conifers, hardwoods and biomass), sub-biomass treatment (removal, piling, chipping or mastication), Recreational Site Treatment (Biomass/Sub-biomass cutting, limbing, bucking, piling and pullback and Mistletoe Pruning), Fuel Break Construction ( Thinning, pruning, and slash treatment), Wildlife Habitat Fuel Treatment (Thinning, decking logs and piling slash) and Planting Site Preparation. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and supplies during a period of performance through December 31, 2009. The project is located on the Upper Lake Ranger District, Mendocino National Forest in Northern California. A PREPROPOSAL CONFERENCE is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on August 4, 2005 meeting at the Upper Lake District Office, 10025 Elk Mtn Road, Upper Lake, CA. The successful contractor will be required to provide a $200,000 payment bond within 10 days of contract award. Solicitation documents will be available approximately July 21 for downloading from this website, any amendments to the solicitation will be posted on this site also. Size Standard is $6.0M average annual receipts. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
