Description
PM-Soldier Clothing & Individual Equipment is pleased to announce the opportunity for government officials and industry to meet regarding Military protective eyewear efforts. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. on 06 October 2005 and will run for up to 3 hours. The meeting will take place at the following location: Product Manager - Clothing and Individual Equipment, 10170 Beach Road, Building 325T Conference Room 1 Fort Belvoir, VA 22060-5800. The purpose of the meeting is to facilitate exchange between the Government and Industry on the Armys protective eyewear efforts. As part of the meeting, the Government will brief the Armys protective eyewear program, communicate the Armys strategy, long range goals and requirements. Informal comments a nd questions on the Armys draft specification for protective spectacles and for protective goggles will be sought from industry. The draft specification will be posted at the following website for industry to review prior to the meeting: https://acquisi tion.army.mil/asfi. Written comments from industry on the specification are welcome and can be mailed to: Product Manager - Clothing and Individual Equipment APM, Chemical Protective Clothing & Protective Eyewear ATTN: SFAE-SDR-CIE 10170 Beach Roa d, Building 325T Fort Belvoir, VA 22060-5800. The Government would also like to use this meeting as an opportunity to obtain information/literature on any new protective eyewear products that industry has to offer. Time with individual industry repres entatives will be scheduled as needed and limited to no longer than 30 minute sessions. The draft specification may be used as a guideline by industry to help determine what products they have that are in compliance with military needs. As a reminder, to be considered by the Government, commercially available protective eyewear should comply with the Buy American Act and the Berry Amendment. Contractors should RSVP by 30 September 2005 of their intent to attend the meeting in order to facilitate visitor pr ocessing upon arrival.
