- The Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with COSMED USA, of CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, to inspect, test, service, maintain and repair 2- each K4B2 Units, Pulmonary Gas Exchange Systems. This equipment is located at the Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302 - only one responsible source and no other vendor will satisfy agency requirements. NAICS 811219. COSMED USA, of CHICAGO, ILLINOIS is the manufacturer of the subject system/equipment and to the best of our knowledge, is the only source who employs personnel that are factory trained on this specific system/equipment, and that is capable of meeting a two-hour response time for emergency repairs. Certification on training and experience in maintaining and overhauling the equipment is required. In addition, to the best of our knowledge, COSMED USA, of CHICAGO, ILLINOIS is the only vendor that can provide the required services and the proprietary parts, to maintain the system, troubleshoot and properly repair this equipment. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within ten (10) calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer, VAMC-GLAC, Building 5, 5000 W. National Ave. Bldg. 5, Milwaukee WI 53295 or via fax to (414) 902-5440. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the GLAC will proceed with the sole source negotiation with COSMED USA, of CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
