Description

The Southern AZ VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) intends to negotiate a Sole Source procurement for the lease of the Smart Cycler System by Cepheid Inc., of 904 Caribbean Drive Sunnyvale, California 94089. This simplified acquisition procurement is being accomplished in accordance with FAR Part 6.302- 1. The Smart Cycler System is a real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) reagents instrument, used for identifying DNA/RNA from prepared biological samples and for conducting FDA approved Methicillin Resistant S. Aureus (MRSA) Tests. This FDA-approved MRSA Test feature of the Smart Cycler System shall protect Veteran patients and shall eliminate further patient isolation costs for the SAVAHCS. Because the Smart Cycler System is a real-time PCR instrument, results and detections shall be made available to the SAVAHCS faster than the normal conventional completion times. This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will NOT be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within (ten) 10 calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer (9-90C) ATTN: Paulette N. Pereira, SAVAHCS, 3601 S. 6th Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85723. Responses received will be evaluated; however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the SAVAHCS will proceed with the sole source negotiation with the Cepheid.
