- Concerns having the ability to furnish the services and supplies described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 15 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC), has a requirement for additional customized computer systems to upgrade the current NEIC processing system. There are currently 40 unique systems in use at the NEIC, customized to meet specific USGS requirements. Additional systems must be fully compatible with the current systems. Because these systems will be used for monitoring in a mission critical system, maintenance is also required as follows: 1) Local, on-site support available seven days per week; 2) Repair of critical components within 24 hours of notifications of problem; 3) Trouble shooting, as required, either remotely or on-site; 4) Replacing faulty or dubious hardware components, when necessary. A local Microsoft-Certified technician is required who is familiar with the architecture, components, and functionality of the 40 custom systems currently in use at the NEIC. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the services and supplies specified as a sole source from Bill Bennett, Centennial, Colorado, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services and supplies are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement.
