Description

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service plans to award using other than full and open competition to The Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Office (PIFWO) is required under Section 4 of the Endangered Species Act to process the listing and critical habitat of 12 picture-winged flies. The contractor is the sole proprietor of data collected for over 30 years for this species and will provide vital information to be used in determining any critical habitat information. The Hawaii Natural Heritage Program (HINHP), in collaboration with the Hawaiian Drosophila Project, will develop a comprehensive GIS layer of Drosophila distributions. HINHP will generate a GIS layer showing the distribution of the twelve proposed endangered Drosophila species. Technical inquiries may be directed to the PIFWO at telephone number (808) 792-9580.
