Description
The project involves the provision of all material, equipment and labor to renovate 40,120 gross square feet of dormitory and 1,360 gross square feet of support space. The work will be performed in two phases; one half of the building will be occupied while the other half is undergoing renovation. BOTH PHASE I AND PHASE II WILL BE PERFORMED CONSECUTIVELY. The work also includes demolition, site work, utility hook-ups, paving, sidewalks and landscaping at the Denison Job Corp Center in Denison, Iowa. The period of performance for completion is 518 calendar days, with substantial completion to be accomplished as follows: Substantial Completion for Phase I shall be accomplished within 214 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. Substantial Completion for Phase II shall be accomplished within 214 calendar days from Substantial Completion of Phase I. The estimated cost range is from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Plans and specifications will be available on or about September 12, 2005, ONLY from the office of FEH Associates, Inc., Attn: Mr. Mark Weiser, Project Manager, (515) 288-2000, 604 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50309-1924. COLLECT CALLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. It is emphasized that request for plans and specifications should be directed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. All requests must be in writing and a $200 bid deposit is required. When plans and specifications are returned in good condition, as determined by the Government, the bid deposit is refundable. The Bid Deposit should be forwarded to Mr. Mark Weiser and must be in the form of a Certified Check, Cashier?s Check, or Money Order, made payable to the U.S. Department of Labor. Please provide on each check or money order your EIN number (Tax ID Number) to insure the refunding of your deposit. All requests will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis until supplies are exhausted. For requests made after the supply is exhausted, a non-refundable fee, not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents (to be determined by the Contracting Officer) plus a shipping charge based on individual requests (if applicable) will be required to obtain the IFB documents. A Pre-bid walk-through is scheduled for September 29, 2005, 10:00 AM., local time, at the Denison Job Corps Center (site). (Plans and specifications, and any addenda, will also be available at several Plan Rooms for use by interested subcontractors and suppliers.) The locations of the Plan Rooms and prospective bidders? list will be available from the Architect/Engineers. The Bid Opening date is October 20, 2005, at 11:00 A.M., local time, at the Architect/Engineering office mentioned above. This is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside acquisition. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction). The Small Business Size Standard is $28.5 million. Certified HUB Zone, small disabled veterans, woman-owned small disadvantaged businesses, 8(a) businesses and small businesses are encouraged to apply. Furthermore, small businesses are encouraged to apply for HUB Zone certification. Information regarding HUB Zone certification can be found at http://www.sba.gov. Bidders desiring an explanation or interpretation of the solicitation, drawings, specifications, etc., must request it in writing no later than (10) calendar days before the bid opening. This is necessary to allow a reply to reach all prospective bidders before the submission of their bids. Bidders unable to comply with the ten (10) calendar day requirement should bid the contract according to your best interpretation of the plans, specifications, and amendments.
