- The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a Purchase Order on a sole source basis to XENOGEN BIOSCIENCES, 5 CEDAR BROOK DR., CRANBURY, NJ 08512. Xenogen provides the IVIS Imaging System 50 Series calibrated precisely against National Institute of Standards and Technology standards. This is the only equipment with sufficient sensitivity and software analysis tools compatible with FDA research needs. Specifically, only this system will permit in vivo examination of the bioluminescent bacteria and cells that FDA have currently available for detailed study. Further, only this system is adaptable for fluorescent studies that may be practical in the near future. Living Image Software makes appropriate conversion of image data automatically. This software is proprietary, and patented (U.S. Patent No. 6,614,452) with graphical user interface for detection, qualification, analysis and storage of the acquired images. NO REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of providing the required service as stated herein may submit a capability statement to document its ability to provide the required services, which will be considered if received by the tenth (10th) calendar day following the appearance of this announcement. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to Fred.Ettehadieh@fda.gov. No phone calls will be accepted. An award will be made in ten (10) calendar days from the date of this notice. This sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition for commercial items in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5.
