Description
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology ? Office for Law Enforcement Standards (NIST-OLES) seeks sources for commercially available Chemical, Biological, and Radiological (CBR) decontamination equipment or materials. The data collected will be used to publish a CBRN Decontamination Equipment Guide for Emergency First Responders. The equipment identified by potential sources may be Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products or mature emerging technologies/ prototypes. This Special Notice addresses portable CBR decontamination equipment or materials, which must be single-man portable, rugged, easy to use, with minimal set-up time, and operate on COTS batteries or on rechargeable batteries (if applicable). The equipment is expected to be applied in a wide variety of first responder scenarios including personnel and equipment decontamination. All equipment suppliers are encouraged to submit information even if equipment is limited in scope, e.g. personnel decontamination only. The ability of the equipment to be used in other applications such as restoration should also be described. Sources are requested to provide specifications to include chemical agents decontaminated, biological agents decontaminated, TIMs decontaminated, radiological decontamination, functional application, capacity/throughput, effectiveness of decontamination, set-up time, power capabilities, operational environment, durability, resources, operator skill level, training requirements, and results of previous studies. The notice invites sources for mature COTS products and emerging technologies/prototypes. All sources should provide their respective information and specifications to the Government free of charge and at their own risk. This notice is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), and the Government will not award any contract on the basis of information or specifications provided by the potential source.
