- The Bay Pines VA Medical Center anticipates awarding a sole source procurement to Simplex Grinnell of Tampa, Florida for installing the Executone Care Com II-E nurse call system in the VA Bay Pines Nursing Home sections E and G. Scope of work includes replacement of existing Dukane Nurse Call system with Executone Care Com II-E Nurse Call system. New system is a device-for-device replacement, with one additional single patient station located in room D-8 of attached building 101. Replacement consists of 54 dual patient stations, 13 single patient stations, 56 emergency stations, 2 nurse control stations, 2 nurse follower stations, 1 central equipment cabinet, and all associated peripheral devices, cabling, conduit, back boxes, cover plates, and any other components necessary. Materials for the installation are being purchased through Simplex Grinnel off their GSA contract. Installation will include installing the new main cabinet for the nurse call system in a new room being built by the VA in the dining room. Disconnect device circuits to the areas being remodeled; demo the existing nurse call panel and install a blank cover over the old cabinet; replace all the existing nurse call devices with new devices one for one in the same locations as the existing. Add a new patient and emergency station in the laundry area connected to area E. This will have intercom capability. Install a complete raceway system for the new or relocated devices only. Install all wire and cables per Simplex Grinnell requirements. Provide one functional system test with the VA. Install, terminate, and test all devices. Install, terminate, and test all panels, sub panels, or remote power supplies required for this project. Install all adapter plates to cover the existing Dukane backbox. Master station will be desk mounted. This proposal is based on being able to take the entire Dukane nurse call system down when doing each section. After installation, Simplex Grinnell will thoroughly test and inspect the installation in order to warranty the equipment. NAICS code #238290 applies to this procurement. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. Information must be received before 4:00 PM, EST, August 30, 2005. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The anticipated award date is on or before September 16, 2005.
