- Description
- NOAA, NMFS, Northwest Fisheries Science Center has a requirement to collect and provide identification and distributional information on killer whales. Work to include: collecting photo ID data of killer whales, notifying other sighting network participants to facilitate subsequent monitoring of the whale movements, revisit the marina and other sites as necessary to develop contacts, etc. Period of performance 10/01/2005-09/30/2006. NOAA intends to award this purchase order on a sole source basis to Center for Whale Research (CWR). CWR has previously identified individuals and pods of southern resident killer whales for over 30 years and is the leading expert on these whales. They possess the necessary the extensive knowledge of the whales and their movements which is critical to this task. CWR has established and have expanded the coastal sighting network and has maintained contacts with the suitable individuals over the past several years. Therefore it is in NOAA?s opinion that CWR is uniquely qualified to complete this requirement in the timeframe needed. All responsible parties may submit a bid or proposal to this office. This is a Simplified Acquisition expected not to exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
