- The goal of the Heat-Assisted Education in Armenia ? Phase II Program is to build upon the success of Social Transition Program efforts and the Energy Efficiency projects and to provide the necessary tools to enable the next generation to sustain the USG assistance projects in Armenia. USAID/Armenia anticipates to award one or more fixed price contract(s)for the implementation of this program. The objective of the proposed twenty four-month program is to provide reliable heating systems and lavatories to improve the conditions at approximately 40 schools that are planned for rehabilitation/renovation during the 2005-2006 school year and the 2006 summer holiday by the Ministry of Urban Development of Armenia. Assistance will be provided to targeted schools countrywide. Phase II will have the following two major interrelated components: (i). Rehabilitation/Construction of the school heating systems during the 2005-2006 school year and the 2006 summer holiday; and (ii) Rehabilitation/Renovation of lavatories in the schools. Inside lavatories will have to be renovated in those schools that have built-in sewage systems. However, as there are a number of schools that do not have built-in sewage systems, the Contractor(s) will have to install toilet facilities outside of the school building and connect them to the closest sewage system.
