Description
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Engineering Field Division, Specialty Center Contracts Core (SCCC), Code AQN00, Port Hueneme, CA 93043 intends to award on a Sole Source basis to Karagozian & Case of Burbank, CA to present a seminar on the state-of-the-art assessment and review of the design and analysis of structures subject to blast effects for the Waterfront Structures Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center, (NFESC), Port Hueneme, CA. Karagozian & Case presents a similar seminar at the University of California Los Angeles. The material presented is unique to their experience in the field explosion effects. Mr. Crawford and Mr. Ferritto are nationally recognized experts in explosion effects and structural response to blast loads. Explosion effects methods, criteria and software used by others were developed by these individuals. The content of the material to be presented includes an assessment of their experience plus an overview of the work of others in the field. They have uniquely compiled the state-of-the-art for blast effects structural response. This procurement is being issued using the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), FAR Part 13. See numbered notes. The authority for this sole source procurement is cited in FAR 5.202(a)(13). Firms that believe they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 10 calendar days from the publication of this synopsis. A notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose to notify.
