Description
The National Park Service intends to issue a Prospectus for a concession contract to provide guided interpretive river raft trips within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on August 12, 2005. The Prospectus explains the business opportunity and the terms and conditions under which the National Park Service will award a concession contract. The contract requires the provision of half day guided interpretive river raft trips on the 15-mile flat water (no rapids) section of the Colorado River from the Glen Canyon Dam ending at Lees Ferry. The concessioner will use motorized 22-foot pontoon-type snout boats on a seasonal basis. The concessioner provides transportation to and from the raft trip locations from their base of operations outside the boundaries of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and in the Page, Arizona area. The contract also authorizes the provision of full day specialty guided interpretive river raft trips on the 15-mile stretch of the Colorado River and backhauling transportation service for kayak, canoe, and dory boat customers from Lees Ferry to a defined drop off location along the 15-mile stretch of the Colorado River. The Director, pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51, has determined that the existing concessioner is not a preferred offeror for the contract. The Prospectus will be issued on August 12, 2005, under the terms described in the Prospectus, with proposals due no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2005. Proposal must be received by the Acting Chief of Concessions, Intermountain Region, National Park Service, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado 80228 no later than seventy-five (75) days after the release of the Prospectus in order to be evaluated and considered for award of the concession contract to provide these services. There is a printing cost recovery charge of $35 per copy to be delivered via Federal Express or $30 per copy if picked up in person. Persons interested in obtaining a Prospectus should mail or bring in person a check or money order (NO CASH SALES) made payable to the National Park Service. You must include a business address (no post office box) and telephone number to receive a Federal Express package. Persons wishing to pick up a Prospectus in person can obtain a Prospectus at Concessions, Intermountain Region, National Park Service, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado during business hours of 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Prospectuses will be available on August 12, 2005, by contacting Tom Williamson, Acting Chief of Concessions, Intermountain Region, National Park Service, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado 80228.
