Description
The Government intends to award a Requirements type contract with one (1) basic year and four (4) one (1) year options with a Best Estimate Quantity (BEQ) of approximately 702 Trailer Mounted Air Conditioning units. The air conditioner will need to meet the cooling requirements of various aircraft avionic/electronic systems which currently require the uses of multiple old air conditioners to service the aircraft, where one air conditioner could do the job and substantially reduce the mobility footprint. This end item “TMAC” will be diesel powered trailer mounted air conditioner used to support aircraft cooling requirements during ground operations, service and testing. The TMAC will also provide conditioned air for personnel comfort during the maintenance activities. The self-contained unit will operate on diesel power for flight line use or electric power for hangar operations with the capability to switch between modes without modifications. The unit provides up to 360,000 British Thermal Units (30 tons) per hour total cooling utilizing an EPA approved non-ozone depleting refrigerant. Once set, TMAC is required to operate automatically and provides either ventilating air or cool dehumidified air at adjustable temperatures down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (F) in ambient temperatures between 40 and 120 degrees F. Air can be discharged at volumes up to 200 pounds per minute with a static pressure of one pound per square inch gage (psig) through two eight inch diameter ducts. TMAC shall be air transportable in C-130, C-17, and C-5 aircraft. The RFP will be posted on/or about 15 Feb 2005.
