Description
The Defense Contracting Command Washington, on behalf of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency intends to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for services to screen Department of Defense mail for evidence of suspicious/obvious bio-threat material and delivery to the Pentagon Defense Post Office (DPO). The requirements include inspection of the Department of Defense mail intended for delivery to the DPO, Pentagon, in government-furnished facilities adjacent to the Pentagon Remote Delivery Facility (RDF) . The inspections shall determine the presence/absence of suspicious/obvious bio-threat material with the intent to ensure the safety of the mail before its return to the DPO. Inspection shall take place at the Pentagon in Government-furnished facilities. Mail is defined as all U.S. Postal Service (USPS), private and commercial letters, flats, packages and parcels. The work requires a SECRET Clearance. These services are currently supported through Contract Number DASW01-02-C-0009 with Vistronix, Inc. The p roposed period of performance will be for a base period of twelve (12) months, with four (4) one-year options. A site visit will be required before submission of a proposal; instructions on scheduling the site visit will be included in the solicitation. Th e proposed procurement is 100% 8(a) set-aside. Only proposals received from responsible 8(a) business sources will be considered. The NAICS code is 561210, Small Business Size Standard of $30 Million. It is anticipated that Solicitation Number W74V8H-05-R- 0060 will be issued on or about 9 August 2005. Following award a 2 week transition period is expected.
