Description

The USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (the Center) intends to make a sole source award for approximately $86,000 to the Society for Nutrition Education to procure a special supplement to the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior that reports methods used and research related to the development of the USDA's MyPyramid Food Guidance System. This is not a formal request for proposals. The proposed supplement to the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior will contain the methods and findings of the technical research that served as the basis for development of the food intake patters and the analyses on the patterns conducted in collaboration with the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, consumer research on existing andd potential new food guidance messages, and consumer research for developing a new graphic symbol and slogan. The government has determined the Society for Nutrition Education's journal to be the only nutrition education and behavior journal (1) that reaches the diverse audience of nutrition professionals that the Center wishes to reach, (2) whose scope and focus most closely match the scope and purpose of the work that the Center wishes to disseminate, and (3) that is considered the premier source for dissemination of nutrition education research within the profession.
