Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, National Acquisition Center and the Nutrition & Food Service Dietary Supplement Standardization Committee are requesting manufacturers of the nutritional products listed below to provide information on their products and product lines in anticipation of a new solicitation for these products to be issued in 2006. Manufacturers are asked to provide written information and specifications on their products, samples for taste testing, and make a presentation on scope of their product lines, categorization of their products, salient product characteristics and future product developments in the commercial nutritional supplement and tube feeding field to this Standardization Group. The presentation and question period will not exceed 120 minutes per vendor [vendors with limited product lines (1-10 distinctive products) will be limited to 60 minutes]. Presentations will be held at the VA National Acquisition Center in Hines, IL September 12-14, 2005. Written information and samples should be provided to Standardization Group at time of presentation. Taste testing will be conducted at a later time, without vendor, not during presentation time. Demonstration of product characteristics can be performed by vendor if pertinent to product application. Pre-registration for this conference is required. Time slots will be offered on first call basis for Monday September 12th afternoon only and all day Tuesday and Wednesday September 13 & 14th. Only primary manufacturers of the products listed below will be scheduled to present information. Distributors/brokers will not be considered for presentations. These meetings are for information gathering only and are NOT part of a current solicitation. When an RFP is developed, all vendors will have an opportunity to bid. The following are the types of products to be reviewed. Commercial Nutritional Supplements (food products not pills) and Tube Feeding Products: Formulations: Basic nutritional profile Nutrient specific profiles for disease specific problems Examples are but not limited to: calories, protein, specific amino acids, elemental products enhanced fiber or low residue, fat modifications or enhancers, electrolyte modifications; enriched vitamin and mineral products, etc. Types: Oral beverages: Liquid ready-to-eat, liquid or powder concentrates, all pack sizes Tube Feedings: Liquid ready-to-use, liquid or powder concentrates, closed system feedings and administration systems, all pack sizes Bars, or pudding style products, all pack sizes Thickener products and premixed ready-to-eat thickened beverages, all pack sizes Tube feeding spike sets and pumps for closed system. Please bring 15 copies of all product information to the presentation. Samples of oral products for taste testing are to be provided for all types and flavors available. Please limit your samples to enough for a ?taste? by 15 people. Tube feeding product samples should be limited to one container or sample of each type available. Hines is not a town, but a federal reservation (Post Office) so you may not find it on a map but it is adjacent to Maywood and Brookfield, Illinois. The complex is located approximately 11 miles west of the Chicago Loop. The most direct route to the NAC is via the Eisenhower Expressway (Route 290) to 1st Avenue (South). Go south on 1st Avenue approximately 6-1/2 blocks (three stoplights) and turn right at the gate just past the flagpoles. From O'Hare Airport, take Route 294 south to the Eisenhower Expressway (Chicago) to First Avenue (South). Limited parking is in front of the building along 1st Avenue. The main entrance is across from the flag pole. There is security at the door that will check your registration, have you sign in, and direct you to the meeting room.
