Description

The following is an annnouncement of a timber sale with embedded services and is not being advertised under the Federal Acquisition Regulations. This is a Stewardship contract allowed under recent legislation which allows the Forest Service to trade goods for services. Sealed bids/best value proposal with a technical and price proposal will be accepted on or before 2:00 PM On 09/23/2005 at the Mt. Hood National Forest Headquarters, 16400 Champion Way, Sandy, OR 97055-7248 for the P Thin Stewardship (Integrated Resource Contract). This contract is located in T. 6S., R. 8E., Sections 5, 6 and 8, T.5S., R. 5E., Sections 2, 3, 10, 11, 14 and 15, and T. 4S., R. 5E., Section 34 W.M., Unsurveyed, Clackamas County, Oregon. Stewardship Contract 2400-13T will be used. The termination date for this contract is 03/31/2008. This stewardship contract includes both the removal of timber and requirements to complete restoration projects meant to improve the ecological condition within the contract area. The objective of a Stewardship project is to allow federal land managers to achieve land management goals, including fuels reduction activities, for public lands while meeting local and rural community needs. For this Stewardship project, in addition to harvesting timber, the contractor will be required to perform service work summarized in the following table but only to the extent that the value of the service work does not exceed the value of the timber. Contractors will earn conservation credits equal to the value of service work they perform and that value will offset the requirement to make payments for timber harvested. The total estimated quantity on this contract is 1941 CCF. The Forest Service encourages potential Contractors to make their own inspection and estimates of all projects prior to bid submission.
