Description
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, (AHRQ), through the Division of Acquisition Management (DAM), Program Support Center(PSC), plans to award a sole source contract using simplified acquisition procedures, to BMJ Publishing Group, Tavistock Square, London. The anticipated date August 15, 2005. This project is to review, edit, and manage all aspects of editorial production for a series of papers on advancing patient safety through systematic design efforts, ranging from the purposeful design of learning systems, organizations, work processes, systems, information technology, and physical facilities. This effort is envisioned as a collaboration among AHRQ, the contractor and international authors prominent in the worldwide patient safety movement. The contractor shall review articles that focus on various aspects of design from such countries as, but not limited to, the United Kingdom, the United States, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. To ensure that the special supplement of articles is both comprehensive and reflects state-of-the-art knowledge worldwide, papers needed to be solicited from both US-based and outside-the-US authors. In addition to the AHRQ health care constituencies that have specific needs for the special supplement, the supplement will be of considerable interest to the broader health care communities at large, both in the US and internationally. Specifically, the contractor shall, solicit authors and obtain agreements for papers (e.g., content, length, deadlines.) Serve as point of coordination for submitted papers, conduct peer review of submitted papers. Edit, revise, typeset, and proofread papers Submit edited, typeset, proofread papers to AHRQ in the form of a bound supplement. The proposed simplified acquisition is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of far 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest by responding to the requirement within 10 days after the date of publication of this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed simplified acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation is available.
