Description
The Social Security Administration, Region II, requires a contractor to renovate approximately 6800 square feet of office space in the northwest corner of the 5th floor of the Addabbo Federal Building located in Jamaica, Queens, New York. The office will be enclosed from the other areas on the floor with ceiling height dry wall. The new office will consist of three new individual offices for senior staff, one mailroom, and 15 cubicles for general staff. The following is a summary of the work that will be performed: 1. Masonry - The contractor will install approximately 3,000 sq. feet of floor to ceiling drywall. Drywall will be polished and be painted with one coat of primer paint and two coats of finished paint. Each interior office requires one 3x5 vision panel installed with a Venetian blind. One interior office shall also require one 1x6 side light panel. Also, the main entrance double-doors shall require 2 1x6 side-light panels, as shown on drawing. Glass type will be 1 1/2 hr. fire rated, tempered glass. 2. Doors - The contractor will provide and install one set of metal double doors and frames with a six foot opening. The contractor will install 5 single metal doors and frames with three foot openings. All doors and frames will be painted. All metal doors require a 1 1/2 hr. fire rating. 3. Vision panels: Each interior office requires one 3x5 vision panel installed with a Venetian blind. One interior office shall also require one 1x6 side light panel. Also, the main entrance double-doors shall require 2 1X6 side-light panels, as shown on drawing. Glass type will be 1 1/2 hr. fire rated, tempered glass. 4. Mechanical requirements: The contractor shall engineer and provide each interior office with independent climate control using new and/or existing fan powered boxes and VAVs, re-engineer and balance the climate control systems inside the new space, and move 2 sprinkler heads. 5. Electrical requirements: The contractor shall install 6 isolated ground circuits, 7 convenience circuits, one dedicated 20amp circuit, 5 isolated ground duplex wall receptacles, 20 convenience duplex wall receptacles, 4 ceiling-mounted exit signs conforming to building standard, two light fixtures, install 7 toggle switches, label panels and all receptacles with identifying panel names and circuit numbers. 6. Data requirements: The contractor shall install appr. 7,000 linear feet of cat 5E data cable, for 20 locations, 40 high-speed data connectors, one at each end of the 20 drops, label each drop according to SSA schedule, run the cable through the existing building cable tray system wherever possible. 7. Special Construction - Contractor is responsible to remove and reinstall card access devices on specified doors. Contractor will install wiring from the new location to the nearest available controller. Contractor will be responsible for final connections and testing. The date for a site visit will be contained in the solicitation. The magnitude of this requirement is between $100,000 and $250,000. The solicitation will be issued on approximately August 5, 2005 and may be downloaded at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. THIS IS A TOTAL HUB-ZONE SET ASIDE. The NAICS is 236220, with a size standard of $28.5 million.
