Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR 2,000,000 IBF CAPACITY UNIVERSAL CELL. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer technical questions asked before the due date. 1. Question: Required Precision and Accuracy of the Load Cell Answer: If the load cell meets the specifications provided in the solicitation, the precision and accuracy of the load cell will be acceptable. 2. Question: Specifications or restricted of alloys Answer: Stainless steel shall not be used. High carbon steel is recommended. 3. Question: Is calibration require and if so what is required tracability, specifications for calibration, and are calibration require to match any type of calibration Standard (ex: ASTM spec.). Answer: The solicitation provides the required safety factors. In calculating those safety factors, threaded holes for mounting adapters shall be assumed to have bolts installed with the lesser of 1.5 diameters of thread engagement or the maximum allowable thread engagement provided as a result of design constraints and shall be assumed to carry the following loads in tension: a. 10.5?-4 threads shall be designed to carry 2Mlbf in tension b. 6?-8 threads shall be designed to carry 500klbf in tension c. 2.75?-12 threads shall be designed to carry 177klbf in tension d. 2.625?-12 threads shall be designed to carry 144klbf in tension e. 2.5?-12 threads shall be designed to carry 87klbf in tension f. 1.5?-12 threads shall be designed to carry 25klbf in tension g. Threads for lift points shall be designed to carry the weight of the load cell/adapter combination Calibration requirements are stated in the solicitation. 4 Question: Delivery requirements Answer: Delivery to MSFC, AL 5. Question: Crating and documental requirement. Answer: There are no crating requirements. However, the winning bidder is expected to deliver a good, serviceable product. Calibration documentation is specified in the solicitation. Additional documentation is also specified so that the customer can build additional adapters if desired. Additionally, if the customer has questions about the product?s safety and performance, the winning bidder shall be prepared to prove the product?s safety and performance with engineering analysis and test data. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on July 19, 2005. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
