- Description
- NAICS Code: 334516 Under authority granted in FAR 6.302-1, the US Environmental Protection Agency intends to seek a quotation on a SOLE SOURCE BASIS from Gerstel, Inc. to provide a 2-Dimensional Gas Chromatography (2D GC) system. This purchase will support the Agency's development of analytical techniques for determining PM chemical signatures, which is an Agency research priority. The Gerstel Inc. system is the only system known that can (i) run separately for specific operations when heartcutting operations may or may not be required; (ii) connect only the pre- and main columns to the switching device; (iii) make connections compatible with leak-free Graphpack technology; (iv) employ a ballistically heated cooling trap acting as a proxy injector; and (v) sequence multiple consecutive injections of the same or different sample for pre-concentration on a cooled trap. The 2D GC system is to be integrated and must be compatible with an existing gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) instrument (Agilent Technologies). The proposed vendor's equipment is engineered to integrate with existing NRMRL analytical instrumentation, and is the only known 2D GC system on the market able to simultaneously accomplish fast 2D GC and heartcutting. This procurement will be accomplished using FAR Part 12, Commercial Acquisition Procedures. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition bases upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Sources wishing to be considered must submit documentation to the office identified above. Documentation must be received no later than 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2005. Interested parties should submit a written request to Yvonne Harris (513) 487-2101 (fax) or e-mail harris.yvonne@epa.gov To receive consideration for this procurement. Telephone responses will not be honored.
