Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Pacific NW Research Station ? Olympia Lab, intends to procure 1 or 2 Growth Chambers meeting the specifications listed below. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. All proposals must be submitted by August 2, 2005. The solicitation number for this project is R6-OLY-5-0027 and is being issued as a request for quotation. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-04. This combined synopsis/solicitation is issued as a small business set-aside. The applicable NAICS code is 339111 with a corresponding size standard of 500 employees. LINE ITEMS Item 1 ? Growth Chamber, Quantity = 1*, Unit = Lump Sum *Depending on pricing and features available, 1 or 2 chambers meeting the attached specifications will be purchased. SPECIFICATIONS Large chamber, with adjustable shelf o Growth height at least 60? o Minimum 18 sq ft of interior shelf (exterior footprint approximately 3 ft by 8 ft) o Ability to vary position of plants relative to lights Computer controller/monitor, with electronic data logging capability (temperature, RH, and other parameters) Barrier between the lights and the chamber (to reduce excess heat from the lights, and reduce/eliminate electrical problems due to high RH) Operable from 10? C to 40? C, ?0.5? C, with lighting, as low as 5?C without Variable light levels, able to use more than one type of lamps (offeror may cost out 2 options, 1 with maximum light => 700 micromoles/m2/s, and second option with maximum light => 1000 micromoles/m2/s) Alarm feature for out-of-range conditions Uniform air flow/temperature conditions throughout the chamber Adaptable for CO2 and/or humidity control Woodless construction Mounted on casters to facilitate repositioning, and comes apart to permit entry into room without removing standard doorframe. All components serviceable from the front, to allow placing against a wall, or back-to-back with another chamber Instruction manual included (or available at no cost as an electronic file) 2-yr Warranty Operates on standard 110 or 220 circuit Company has been in business for at least 5 years DATE AND PLACE OF DELIVERY Growth Chamber(s) are to be delivered to the Olympia Forestry Sciences Lab located at 3625 93rd Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98512-9193. PAYMENT Payments under this project will be made in accordance with the applicable clauses and provisions listed below.
