Description
Coeur dAlene River Ranger District, Shoshone County, Idaho. Part 1 (Stumprock Wood Gathering) The scope of this project is to provide the necessary logs and logs with rootwads in order to complete work identifed in the Stumprock Meadows Rehab project. This work will consist of harvesting and gathering blue marked trees which may consist of dead, down, dying, standing live, leaning trees, and trees with rootwads, within 200 feet on each side of Road #625F. No excavated skid trails will be constructed. Harvest activities shall be conducted with minimal environmental impact as possible. Damage to residual trees shall be minimal. The collected trees and trees with rootwads will be decked and hauled to three designated site locations, one at Stump Meadows, Shamrock Meadows, and N.F. Hayden Meadows, approximately 2-3 miles away. Part 2 (Stumprock Meadows Rehab) This solicitation describes watershed rehabilitation work in the Stump Creek and Shamrock Creek drainages, and rehabilitation work needed in four (4) different meadows. This includes decommissioning small portions of roads by decompacting and recontouring to match the original hillside, and scattering numerous logs and rootwads at these areas. Channel restoration will involve removing fill and drainage structures at stream crossing sites, installing gradient control devices, and returning sites back to their natural conditions. Two V structures and four rootwad revetments will be used for stream bank protection. Meadow rehabilitation consists of decompacting, leveling, and seeding each of these areas. Some rock and berms already installed will need some improvement work done. Also included will be some minor trench placement and trench reconstruction. Government estimate between $25,000 and $100,000. Estimated start work date of September 15, 2005 with estimated contract time of 60 calendar days.
