Description
NASA/GSFC has a requirement for an electron-beam evaporator is to be used in an existing glass jar-type vacuum chamber (18" diameter), made by Veeco. It can accommodate 1" bolt-style feedthroughs only (not con-flat). The source component, or e-gun, is capable of focusing an electron beam on one of four crucibles (7cc each) of metal to evaporate that metal onto a substrate in the line-of-sight. Crucible liners are also needed that are compatible with the metals we are like to use: three vitreous (or glassy) carbon liners and three alumina liners are required. Accessories for the e-gun include a compatible (5.5kv to 10kV) power supply to generate the electron beam, a seep controller for sweeping the electron beam over the sample, and a 1" bolt style feedthrough kit for installing the system into the existing chamber. The feedthrough kit must have the following (or equivalent): two high voltage feedthroughs, one cooling water feedthrough (supply and return), one "octal" feedthrough for sweep controle, and one rotary feedthrough to select the crucible to be used. A crucible indexer is needed for clarity of operation and for ease of source selection. A remote control option is also desired. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
