- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to issue a sole source award to Geological Survey of Alabama to perform data capture and geographic information systems development and management for the Ciba DDT site in McIntosh, AL. Representatives of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Alabama Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Geological Survey of Alabama make up the Alabama Natural Resource Trustee Council. They are cooperating in natural resource damage assessment and restoration activities at the site in McIntosh, Al. They provide for compensation for injuries to natural resources caused by the releases of contaminents. This is a highly technical litigious process requiring a degree of confidentiality. On behalf of the Trustee Council, Geological Survey of Alabama has assumed responsibility for the design and management of a data and geographic information system. The Fish & Wildlife Service has agreed to contribute to Geological Survey of Alabama's costs for these activities by issuing them a contract award. THIS NOTICE IS NEITHER A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION NOR A SOLICITATION OF OFFERS. A determination not to compete this proposed contract has been made Pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as implemented by 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), this requirement has been justified and approved in accordance with FAR 6.303 and FAR 6.304.
