Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with AML Communications Inc. for the purchase of six specialized ultra-low noise microwave amplifiers. Based on market research, AML Communications Inc. is the only vendor who can provide the amplifiers with the following specifications: 1. Frequency: 8 - 12 GHz 2. Gain: 16 dB min 3. P1dB: +10dBm min 4. Noise Figure: 3.5 dB max 5. Random Phase Noise not to exceed: a. -135 dBc/Hz @ 10Hz b. -150 dBc/Hz @ 100Hz c. -160 dBc/Hz @ 1KHz d. -165 dBc/Hz @ 10KHz e. -168 dBc/Hz @ 1MHz (No spurs or bumps above random noise function indicated above.) 6. DC Current @ +12/+15VDC: 200 mA nom 7. Outline: Not to exceed 4.5? length or width, 0.5? thickness 8. Weight: Not to exceed 16 ounces. 9. Connectors: SMA standard for signals in and out; feedthrough standard for DC Current. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100K). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not the use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. Any questions regarding this notice shall be submitted in writing to Ms. Rima (e-mail preferred). Anticipated award date is July 29, 2005.
