- Description
- Forest Service requires the removal of mine tailings from the Goldstone Mine. The Project consists of treating mine tailings at the Goldstone mine site and restoring a stream channel where the tailings are located. Approximately 4,400 cubic yards of tailings are to be hauled and placed at an on-site repository. The repository will then be capped with borrow material and riprap available on-site. The tailings removal site, located in the Pratt Creek floodplain, will then be restored to a stable, naturally functioning stream channel by re-contouring the floodplain and establishing stream stabilization structures. The roads accessing the mine site and those to be used to haul tailings will need some minor clearing, excavation and drainage improvements. An earthen and log dam and a culvert will be removed and used in the restoration work or placed at the repository. Two temporary roads and support structures across wetlands will need to be constructed to access some of the tailings and will be obliterated after the removal is completed. The road accessing the mine site will be restored to the original width upon completion of the contract. The project is located on the Leadore Ranger District, Salmon-Challis National Forest, Lemhi County, Idaho. The contract time will be 60 calendar days. Work is estimated to start September 15, 2005. Proposals are due at 3:00 p.m. MST, August 29, 2005. The estimated price range is $100,000 to $250,000. The solicitation will be available on approximately July 29, 2005, and can be downloaded from this site at that time. All responsible vendors shall be registered in the Central Contractor Registration database and have proper bonding capability before being eligible to submit a proposal under this solicitation.
