Description
NO PREFERENCE PROGRAM. The Offerors are required to be from the geographical areas are Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. At the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Ute Mountain Ute Agency, Court of Indian Offenses, CFR Court, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Towaoc, Colorado, Prosecutor will: (1)Review and screen all criminal adult/juvenile complaints and analyze criminal investigations for prosecution merit and prepare for and prosecute criminal and juvenile cases, including wildlife and traffic violations over which the, CFR Court has jurisdiction. (2)Be the Representing Officer (Attorney-at-Law) for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Social Services Department in abuse/neglect, delinquency and involuntary commitments cases in the Court of Indian Offenses, CFR Courts, Ute Mountain Ute Agency. (3)Assist the United States Attorney in all criminal matters and assists various District Attorneys in matters referred to them as needed. (4)Provide training to the Bureau of Law Enforcement Services ??? two(2) hours/per month. (5)Prosecute all criminal complaints filed with the Court of Indian Offenses, CFR Court, Ute Mountain Agency. (6)Have knowledge of Tribal Law, the Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Law and Colorado State Law and Utah State Law. Shall be responsible for conducting all necessary legal research. (7) Be a self-motivated person who can work well with little supervision and will be responsible for the general administration of the contract, including submitting reports and invoices. (8) Will work a maximum of 32 hours per week. During the 32 hour work week, will perform Prosecutorial duties i.e. prosecuting criminal defendants/juvenile offenders and work with therapists, counselors, Federal probation officers, and various professionals who have official business with the CFR Court, Ute Mountain Ute Agency. (9)Coordinate his/her work schedule with the Court Administrator, Court Clerks, CFR Public Defender and Court of Indian Offenses, CFR Court, Ute Mountain Ute Agency, Towaoc, Colorado. (10) Be required to attend and participate in training seminars, workshops and/or conferences that directly relate to the prosecutorial services. (11)Work independently performing prosecutorial duties with limited supervision, including, maintaining a case load of active case to be adjudicated in the Court of Indian Offense, CFR Court, Ute Mountain Ute Agency or the Southwest Intertribal Court of Appeals. (12)Be responsible for the general administration of the contract, including submitting reports and invoices. (13)Background investigation is required for this position, according to the P.L. 101-630, Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act of 1990: P.L. 99-570, Indian Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act of 1986: and P.L. 101-647, Crime Control Act. The CFR Court services the Ute Mountain Tribal members in Towaoc, Colorado and White Mesa, Utah. The CFR Court is located in the community of Towaoc, Colorado on the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation located in Southwest Colorado and Northwest New Mexico. Towaoc is the Ute mountain Ute Tribal headquarters and located 12 miles south of Cortez, Colorado, on Hwy 666. The CFR Court locations address is 203 Sunset Blvd., Towaoc, Colorado, 81334. No residential or rental housing is available in Towaoc. The nearest available housing is in Cortez, Colorado or Blanding, Utah. The current population of Towaoc and White Mesa is estimated to be 1,632 people of which 1343 reside in Towaoc and 289 in White Mesa. The approximate percentage of the estimated population is: 87% Tribal members, 11% Native American non-tribal members and 2% Non-Native American. CONTACT THE SOUTHWEST ACQUISITION OFFICE, MS.
