- This is a Request for Quotes for Solicitation No. AG-0116-S-05-0027. The purpose of this contract is pre-commercial thinning of approximately 66 acres of conifer reproduction that is approximately 44 to 47 years old. This contract is in support of a Forest Service young growth study to discover better ways to manage OLDER young growth stands for wildlife and other resource values. Treatment methods will include felling, girdling, and two different types of slash treatment. Potential quoters should review the solicitation well as this is different from the standard thinning contract usually performed on the Tongass. The project area is located on the southern shoreline of Kupreanof Island at Totem Bay on the Petersburg Ranger District, Southeast Alaska. The project is only accessible via boat, float plane or helicopter. There are no serviceable roads within ten miles of this project site. The performance period is 45 days. The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps website on or about July 18, 2005 for viewing and printing. Potential offerors are requested to the solicitation from the Internet if at all possible. Alternatively, a hard copy of the solicitation documents may be requested via fax at 907.228.6254. Fax requests should reference solicitation AG-0116-S-05-0027. Telephone requests will not be honored. Offers will be due approximately 15 calendar days after the solicitation issue date.
