- The Centralized Acquisition Service (CAS), Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 (VISN 6), intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR Part 6.302 to UpToDate, Inc., for on-line subscription access to clinical resource information. On-line subscription access provides a "search engine" benefit for over 330 medical journals, "topic review" comprised of over 6000 topical discussions (equivalent of more than 70,000 pages of text), graphics, Medline abstracts, and a complete drug database. On-line subscription also covers thirteen medical specialties and subspecialties such as: Adult Primary Care & Internal Medicine; cardiovascular Medicine; Endocrinology & Diabetes; Gastroenterology & Hepatology; Hematology; Infectious Diseases; Obstetrics & Gynecology; Oncology; Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine; Nephrology & Hypertension; Rheumatology; Family Practice; Pediatrics. UpToDate's staff of in-house physicians provides reviews of over 330 medical journals and incorporates significant clinical findings daily with updates provided every four months. UpToDate provides speedy access to and unique presentation to queried information. This sole source procurement is for clinical subscriptions and database access. This will be a VISN 6 procurement which includes the following Medical Centers: VAMC Asheville, NC; VAMC Beckley, WV; VAMC Durham, NC; VAMC Fayetteville, NC; VAMC Hampton, VA; VAMC Richmond, VA; VAMC Salem, VA; and VAMC Salisbury, NC. The intended contract will be for one year. Qualified businesses other than the sole source company must submit in writing, certification and sufficient evidence that they are able to provide all functionality and requirements listed herein including database access on or before July 15, 2005 at 4:00pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time. If no timely responses are received, VISN 6 CAS shall proceed with negotiations to award to UpToDate, Inc.
