- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Forecast Systems Lab (FSL) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis with Trimble Navigation, Ltd. for the Trimble NetRS GPS receiver and Zephyr Geodetic Antenna to be used to provide GPS integrated water vapor measurements for the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) as well as other projects including the 2005-06 Texas Air Quality Study, and 2006 Hydrometeorological Testbed. NOAA requires this receiver and antenna for uniformity and consistency across the research networks. NOAA/FSL?s membership in The University Navstar Consortium (UNAVCO) allows the NOAA laboratories to share technology and science-based research with UNAVCO and to purchase GPS receivers at reduced costs from Trimble. The NetRS GPS Receivers are dual frequency L2C enabled geodetic receivers designed for high accuracy geodetic and atmospheric measurements made by NOAA research. It uses internet protocol (IP) as the primary communications mechanism. It has flexible data outputs and data logging capabilities. The Zephyr Geodetic Antenna is a low cost patch antenna with extremely low multipath, outstanding low elevation tracking and sub-millimeter phase center accuracy required for atmospheric research. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13.1, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures (under $100,000). Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government?s best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. Any responses shall be received in writing no later than July 25, 2005 addressed to the attention of Doris Turner, Purchasing Agent. The anticipated award date is July 26, 2005.
