The project consists of collecting and analyzing fire history information for the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Sawtooth National Forest. The project is located within the SNRA and can be accessed by traveling north from Ketchum, Idaho on Highway 75. The legal description of the study area is primarily located in Townships 6-11 North, Ranges 12-15 East, Boise Meridian.
