Description
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) intends to negotiate a single-source contract with Analogic Corporation for the acquisition of up to three (3) prototypes of the Explosive Detection Large Bore (XLB) system for parallel development and testing as part of the Category III, Phase 3 effort of the Phoenix project related to the development of new and evolutionary checked baggage screening systems. The work under this contract shall include the materials and labor to assemble up to three (3) prototypes as well as the associated program management and engineering effort. Research and Development is currently being performed on two (2) XLB prototype Analogic systems under the Category III, Phase 3 Phoenix effort. The contract objective is to provide up to three additional XLB prototype units to enable parallel development and testing in order to accelerate the overall project schedule thus allowing TSA to enter into pilot testing and potentially full system deployment in a much shorter amount of time. The TSA intends to negotiate a single-source contract to provide three (3) additional prototypes that are identical to two (2) prototypes undergoing research and development in order to accelerate the Phoenix Phase III testing schedule. To successfully conduct parallel testing, it is essential that all prototypes units be alike. The Analogic XLB Phoenix effort was awarded as a part of the overall Phoenix Project initiative, which was a full and open competition. The TSA anticipates a twelve (12) month period of performance, with an expected contract award date of August 2005.
