- Description
- TSA intends to negotiate separate single-source contracts with Galaxy Scientific Corporation of Egg Harbor, New Jersey and Telair International of Rancho Dominguez, California for production of Hardened Unit Load Device (HULD) units. The HULD units will be acquired to support operational testing of the HULD Pilot Program. TSA is negotiating single-source contracts because only these two vendors, Galaxy Scientific and Telair International, can manufacturer the HULD units. Both firms are the only known Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for HULD units that fulfill TSA requirements, satisfy FAA airworthiness requirements and conform to international airline operational requirements. Only these OEMs have the requisite expertise to manufacture HULD units. TSA anticipates award of separate contracts to each OEM for HULD manufacture, repair, training and engineering support. The period of performance for the contract will be 12 months from contract award. Contract award is anticipated in the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2005.
