Description
It is the intent of the General Services Administration to purchase a custom built, boat shaped conference table and 16 leather-bound chairs through other than full and open competition procedures from Kittinger Furniture Company, Inc. The table and chairs will be used in the conference room of a high security level historic building located in Washington, DC. Other than full and open competition is required because the conference room already holds Kittinger furniture, which was previously competed and found to meet the stringent standard for the intended purpose. In addition, the proposed furniture will match existing Kittinger furniture already in place in the conference room. The same style and quality match can only be achieved by going to the same manufacturer that previously furnished this room. Furniture construction should follow in the manner below: Custom tooling and fixturing (already available by Kittinger). Custom stain formulation, which matches existing furniture. 9-step finishing process to obtain a durable, clean and natural grain finish. Hand selected veneer and Honduran mahogany solids to ensure heirloom quality of finish and durability over time. Hand rubbed finish for authentic antique appearance Precision machine table at tight tolerances to ensure repetitive assembly and disassembly Joint construction specially engineered to increase stability and alignment. Specially constructed heavy duty bases to support multiple uses and equipment . Base leg configuration to accommodate multi-media connection. Ability to accommodate specific customer A/V equipment. Apron design to be both decorative and structurally supportive in addition to concealing wire management. Custom dolly, sized & designed to meet customer building requirements. Expedient lead-time from procurement to delivery due to past working relationship, manufacturing standards already in place and Kittinger Furniture?s reputation for custom products. Specifications for Table: 1) Table should nominally be eighteen (18) feet by four wide a center, three (3) feet wide at ends. 2) The shape of the table shall be a narrow rectangular table with rounded corners and tapered to the ends (narrow boar shape). 3) The height of the table to the finish shall be thirty (30?) inches. 4) The height of the table for knee room shall be twenty-six (26?) inches to the bottom of the apron. 5) It shall have a hard durable finish that is not easily marred or scratched by briefcases, notebook, folders or other items being placed on the table. The table top thickness must be at least 1 1/8? solid wood veneers. 6) The table finish shall match on the multimedia cabinet located within the room. 7) The table shall be easily disassembled and reassembled. The table must be capable of being disassembled and assembled without tools. 8) The minimum number of sections composing the table shall be four (4). 9) The underside of the table shall have Velcro mechanically attached to secure cables for telephones and multi-media cables used within the room. 11) The layout of the support legs shall take into account the locations of the floor boxes for the multi-media system. The support legs may straddle the floors boxes as long as there is sufficient space to open and connect the cables. 12) Each sections of the table shall have one (1) inch by two (2) inch flush removable metal plate that has a finish matching the color of the table. This opening shall be used for the multimedia cables that can be used to support the room. 13) The sections of the table shall be configured so that any one b the end sections can be left out if a shorter table is required. 14) Frames shall be provided that can be used to protect, move and store the table. Specification for Chairs: 1) The chairs shall match the current chairs similar to the Kittinger chair #U548. 2) The chair dimensions shall be as follows: a) Overall width shall be twenty-six and one quarter (26 ?) inches. b) Overall depth shall be twenty-six (26) inches. c) The chair back height shall be thirty-five and three quarters (35 ?) inches. d) The seat height shall be eighteen (18) inches. f) The arm height shall be twenty-seven (27 ?) inches. 3) The wood finish shall match the finish of the table. 4) The leather shall be top quality grade #1 hid with minimal flaws. The color shall be from the brown range. Multiple samples shall be submitted for approval. 5) The total of 16 chairs shall be provided. A separate price for one chair that has a back 3? higher than the other chairs shall also be provided. 6) Finish should be Light Heirloom. 7) 3? Higher Back on 1 chair only.
