Description
SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, has issued a sources sought notice to locate supplies and manufacturers of acoustic release equipment including the actual release and a deck set used for communication with the release. This requirement is used on all existing Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis (DART) systems. The acoustic release is comprised of single pressure housing with no external cables. The pressure housing shall act as the in-line load bearing member with a minimum working load of 10,000 lbs. The release shall not self-release under loading until at least 12,000 lbs of force are applied. The depth rating of the pressure vessel shall be at a minimum 6000m. The overall length of the instrument shall not exceed 40 inches and shall not weigh more than 65 lbs in salt water. The Deck Set shall consist of a single sealed splash proof container/cover. The Desk Set must be able to issue commands and evaluate responses independently of any external equipment (i.e. computers, etc). The Deck Set must come equipped with a set of noise canceling headphones for operator use. Additionally the Deck Set must include a keypad and display to issue and view all commands and replies. Preference will be given to units that have a RS-232 port that allows the Deck Set to communicate with a PC and share data (i.e. for use in positioning applications) Our goal is to gain insight into the market and identify potential small business sources. Complete specifications for our requirement can be found at the following web site: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/business/procurement.shtml. Vendors are required to provide company information, point of contact, expertise, GSA Federal Schedules, and other relevant product information in their response. All responses must be sent in writing via mail, e-mail, or fax. The contact information is listed below.
