Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project requires the Contractor to be responsible for supplying all labor, materials, equipment, freight and delivery, and all necessary valid licenses and permits required for Phase II construction of the US Forest Service Air Tanker Base located at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CMA), TN. Contractor is required to coordinate with the airport authority and the FBO. Security issues and permits to be coordinated with Ruth Dudley, Operations and Security Manager with the CMA (423-855-2208). Phase II of the Tanker Base construction will be located on a leased site at the Chattanooga Airport, adjacent to an active runway and the 2004-completed Phase I, constructed taxi-way and loading pads. Base Bid: Perform clearing and grubbing on the remaining Forest Service leased site that is planned for future construction. Remove unsuitable material in the construction building zones of the proposed US Forest Service Air Tanker Base facilities (roads, buildings, drainage structures, other specified utilities). Supply estimated 13,300 CY of suitable borrow material to compact and grade to specified contours/elevations for future building and facilities installation. The Base Bid will include all work associated with installing the drainage structures shown on Grading Sheet C-3 and other details sheets, and the entrance construction road shown on Sheet C-6. A specified 40 ft rolling gate is to be installed without the power hook-ups and controllers at this time. Add Item 1: Install a 300 LF section of 6 inch water line from the existing West Airfield Perimeter Road to specified site near the proposed mixing plant on the Tanker Base site. Include one backflow preventer, water valves, one fire hydrant, and a 15 LF section of 4 inch water line reduced off the 6 inch line. The 4 inch line to be stubbed up and capped for future use near the proposed mixing plant. Work includes installing approximately 125 LF of primary electric line in conduit from the airport road and onto the Forest Service site to the specified transformer and S1 Switchboard. Work also includes construction of the first 100 ft of entrance drive according to plans, but with only an aggregate surface at this time. There is no paving required. Add Item 2: Complete and grade the road template with installation of the specified aggregate base for a circular drive that is 24 ft wide and approximately 620 LF long as shown in cross-hatch on Sheet C-6. ESTIMATED PRICE RANGE: Between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00 PROJECT LOCATION: Project is located on the western side of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport property, 1001 Airport Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. The site is accessible by a newly constructed West Airfield Perimeter Road. This road entrance is across from the intersection of Lee Highway and Brainerd Road. The road turns west and is next to the BMW of Chattanooga car dealership in Chattanooga, TN.
