Description
The Tennessee Valley Authority(TVA) intends to license or sell three (3)technologies related to the measurement and control of Mercury in gases. 1) A method to compensate for interferences to mercury measurement in gases (patent number 5,750,992),the technology compares photometric measurements of a sample flue gas with and without mercury eliminating measurement interferences from the other components of the flue gas. 2)A dry gas-phase technology that converts oxidized mercury to elemental mercury to permit the measurement of total mercury in exhaust gases (patent number 5,879,948). No catalyst is involved and the method prevents the re-oxidation of mercury with congeneric components in the exhaust gas. 3) A technology related to the control of Mercury in exhaust gases (patent number 6,136,281), this technology relates to the use of a catalyst in the oxidation of Hg(0) in a flue gas stream prior to standard emissions control equipment. The oxidized mercury is more soluble and therefore more easily removed from the flue gas stream by wet processes such as a two-stage wet FGD. Potential licensees or buyers should express interest in the technology in writing by mail or fax to TVA no later than 06/22/2005, including a brief statement of your experience and capabilities to commercialize the technology. TVA's Research & Technology Applications staff will be available on a fee basis for technology engineering and commercialization support. Reply and requests for additional information should be directed to Tracey R. Willingham, Contract Agent, Services Contracts, Post Office Box 1010, CTR 2U, Muscle Shoals, Alabama 35662-1010, Telephone (205) 386-2279, Fax (205) 386-3250.
