Description
The U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) is contemplating issuing a sole-source contract with Jardon & Howard Technologies (JHT) Inc. for the Victim Advocates and Seriously Disabled Veterans Services on an interim period of nine-months (30 June 2005 through 31 March 2006). This interim measure is being taken to prevent a lapse in contract service while a competitive acquisition is planned and executed. The Victim Advocates, Shelter and Seriously Disabled Veterans Services are programs and initiatives offered by Department of Defense (DoD), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Military Community and Family Policy Office (MC&FP) to provide innovative options for approaching the challenges that military members and their families meet on a daily basis. The Victim Advocates and Shelter Services expand the availability of victim and shelter services for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault in the Military Services. Shelter or safe houses are defined as facilities designated for temporary, emergency housing or other services for victims of domestic abuse and may be located on or off the installation. The Seriously Disabled Services provide the support necessary to manage and coordinate services and internships for seriously disabled veterans, as a result of their services in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and the Global War on Terrorism. After service members and former service members are identified, the program coordinator begins to coordinate with Human Resource firms to help access how these veterans can be placed into interim positions.
