Description

Notice of Intent to award a single source award to Dennis Rechel to mow pinnate tansymustard weeds. The US Fish and Wildlife Service has a requirement to mow pinnate tansymustard weeds (Brassicaceae) on 1,300 acres of acquired properties at Stillwater NWR. Western Nevada experienced an unusually wet spring leading to an incredible growth of mustard on the old farm properties acquired by Stillwater NWR under our Water Rights Acquisition Program. Time is of the essence as the rapid appearance and extent of infestation of the Tansymustard, an invasive non-native weed species is growing rapidly and we need to mow the entire 1,300 acres before it sets seed. Mr. Rechels is the only farmer in the area who has the proper equipment and has expressed a willingness to do the work.
