- The U.S. Army ARDEC is contemplating a full and open competition procurement of the M68 Close Combat Optic (CCO) to be compatible with and mount to the M4 Modular Weapon System (MWS) and the M16A2/M16A4 rifles and has the following characteristics: The device shall be a reflex (non-telescopic) sight which transmits light from the target to the viewer, contain a 1 to 4 Minute of Angle (MOA) red dot reticle with manually adjustable brightness, contain an anti- reflection device to minimize glint, be mountable to the MIL-STD-1913 rail system, and maintain zero retention. Optic must be able to withstand the rigors of use in military environment and maintain zero. Power source must be commonly available, found on a standardized list of military batteries, or utilize radioactive materials. The contractor shall purchase or manufacture all the component hardware for the M68 CCO. It is the Government???s intent that the basic contract shall be awarded to a maximum of two offerors presenting the best value to the Government based on evaluation of Bid Test Samples and written proposal. Based on value and cost, the Government intends to award a 60/40 split in Procurement quantities. The M68 CCO requirement is approximately 100 units for FY05 to support Developmental Testing (DT) and Operational Testing (OT) with potential production option quantities from FY06 ??? FY07 of approximately 154,000 M68 CCO???s. The Solicitation will be issued on or about 30 June 2005 and be available via FedBizOpps.
