The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Product Manager for the Test Equipment Modernization Program (PM-TEMOD) is responsible for the acquisition of the state-of-the-art, commercial/non-developmental general purpose test equipment. The new equip ment will be used to standardize the inventory and replace existing obsolete test equipment. A draft purchase description/specification has been developed for a Radio Test Set. The Radio Test Set will be portable and hand held that operates over the frequ ency range of 30 MHz to 2 GHz. The test set shall be capable of performing forward power, frequency, VSWR, transmitter modulation, and relative field strength measurements on SINCGARS and future JTRS radios. In addition, the instrument shall be capable of providing test signals for the purpose of testing receiver sensitivity and tone squelch operations. A questionnaire has been developed to assist the Government in defining the final purchase description/specification by providing information about the technical capabilities of available commercial/non-developmental Radio Test Set. No decision has been m ade at this time as to the type of procurement, i.e., full and open competition versus small business set-aside.
