- In accordance with FAR subpart 13.106(b) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Collegiums Ramazzini in the amount of $50,000.00. The funds are to co-sponsor the ?The Future in Light of the Past: Living in a Chemical World 2005 Conference in Bologna, Italy, September 18-21, 2005. CDC believes that Collegiums Ramazzini is the only organization that meets the requirements because it is comprised of internationally renowned scientists from thirty-one nations who are experts in the fields of occupational and environmental health. The Collegium examines critical scientific questions in occupational and environmental medicine and operates worldwide to prevent disease and to promote good health in the workplace and living environment. Interested parties who feel that that they possess the capabilities to perform the services described above, should provide a capabilities statement demonstrating their qualifications, experience, and ability to perform the requirements. Offerors must have the ability to update the state of knowledge on risks of which we have long been aware and that are still present in the workplace and in the general living environment, in order to define the scientific bases for more stringent regulations and more effective prevention; present the results of studies on hazardous agents and situations, brought about by recent technological innovations and new life styles, in order to suggest, when necessary, the application of new strategies for prevention; evaluate data on the diffusion of carcinogenic hazards from the industrially developed to the developing nations; review the scientific tools now available for prevention and, if necessary, re-determine the strategies. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Documentation should be received within fiftteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis to be considered by CDC. A determination by the CDC not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within discretionon of the government.
