Description
Robert S. Vance Federal Building and Courthouse Birmingham, Alabama, Proposed Renovation & Alterations Construction, Design Phase Networking Session On Tuesday, June 7, 2005, The United States General Services Administration (GSA), will conduct a Networking Session for Small and Large Business Architect/Engineer firms which may be interested in exploring teaming opportunities with the selected Short-Listed Lead Design A/E firms on the design phase of the renovation of the Vance FB / Courthouse in Birmingham, Alabama. The Networking Session will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Vance Federal Building/Courthouse, 1800 Fifth Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama. Signage will be posted at the Building entrance directing all attendees to the selected meeting area. The facility to be renovated will consist of 174,000 gross square feet and will provide space for The U.S. District Court, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court with associated chambers and the Bankruptcy Clerks Office. Space will also be included for the U.S. Marshal Service, the U.S. Attorney, the U.S. Probation, GSA and other Federal Agencies. There will be a maximum of 39 outside parking spaces. The Courthouse is located within the Central Business District of Birmingham, Alabama. The Estimated Construction Cost (ECC) is between $12,000,000 and $15,000,000 and most, if not all, design and construction disciplines are expected to be represented. The Short-Listed Lead Design A/E firms desire to discuss teaming opportunities with qualified A/E firms to meet the GSA requirement that a minimum of 35% of the level of contract effort be performed in the State of Alabama. These firms must have an active production office established within the State of Alabama within 90 days prior to March 7, 2005. The Networking Session is intended to affirm GSA?s recognition of the talent that exists in the Small Business Community and is committed to opening a dialogue between qualified Architect/Engineer Firms in the community and State who may desire to become a part of the project with the Design Teams. Large and Small Business Architect/Engineer firms will be given an opportunity to meet the GSA Project Team and representatives from each of the Short Listed Lead Design A/E firms, listen to a GSA presentation on the scope of the project, and to participate in question and answer session. It is expected that at the conclusion of the Networking Session participants will be a better position to determine whether or not to further pursue teaming opportunities for this project. Questions about the Vance Networking Session should directed to David Gibson, GSA?s Small Business Advocate for The Public Buildings Service in The Southeast Sunbelt Region (404) 331-2366, E-Mail DavidA.Gibson@GSA>GOV.
